If your name is Joe, odds are you scored a big goal Sunday night in San Jose. Joe Pavelski became the first player since Mario Lemieux to score multiple goals in three straight games. Pavelski accomplished this feat 18 years after Lemieux and he now leads all playoff scorers with nine goals in the postseason.

The other Joe, Jumbo Joe Thornton scored with just over seven minutes remaining in the game off of a Dany Heatley rebound to put the Sharks ahead for good 4-3. It was Jumbo’s first goal of the 2010 postseason and his 14th career playoff goal.

Detroit committed ten penalties in the game, the two most costly ones coming with four minutes to go, killing two precious minutes off the clock, and the second one coming with under a minute left when Detroit was caught with too many men on the ice.

The Sharks head to Detroit tomorrow with game three on Tuesday.
