Save These Dates: Important Regular Season Matchups

It’s only August, but as the 2011-12 NHL season grows nearer I wanted to take the opportunity to start hyping some interesting games that we Sharks fans should keep an eye on. The full Sharks schedule can be found here.

October 22, 2011: Sharks @ Bruins

This will be the Sharks’ first chance to play the reigning Stanley Cup Champions. I wanna think of this as an example of what should have been in last year’s Stanley Cup Final. If the Sharks win this game then I will start saying that the we would have won the cup if that unholy stanchion didn’t choose to get involved sucker punch us.

October 28, 2011: Sharks @ Red Wings

Well let’s kick off another year of hard-fought games between these two teams. What else can I say besides that Detroit is a huge pain in the playoffs? Here’s hoping that Brent Burns makes Babcock even more upset about the trade by scoring some big goals against the Wings this year.

October 29, 2011: Sharks @ NY Islanders

Will we see Nabby start for the Islanders against his former team? It will be weird to watch… I hope the Sharks win but I also want Nabby to do well. Here’s hoping it’s a super close game where the Sharks win by a slim margin.

October 31, 2011: Sharks @ NY Rangers

Happy Halloween!! We’ll get to see if Brad Richards is for real in NY or if  he has become another high-priced ghost of a player *coughGaborikcough*

November 7, 2011: Kings @ Sharks

Our first meeting with the new-look Kings. I am kinda nervous about the Kings this year. Richards and Gagne? They could be really tough for the Sharks this year. Good thing we beefed up our blueline with the likes of Colin White. He doesn’t fool around and hopefully he will start knocking the new Kings off of their thrones.

November 10, 2011: Wild @ Sharks

Welcome back Dany and Seto! Here’s hoping Brent Burns doesn’t spoil your day too much with the hat-trick he is going to score!

November 23, 2011: Blackhawks @ Sharks

Another meeting with those Blackhawks. I will never forgive Chicago for sweeping us a couple of years ago in the Western Conference Finals. This team will forever be on my Hated Teams list.

November 26, 2011: Canucks @ Sharks

Circle your calendar for this one folks. I can’t wait for this one because the Canucks have taken top spot on my Hated Teams list. There are so many reasons for this. First of all you eliminated the Sharks. Second of all that mouthpiece that plays for you… what’s his name? Oh yeah, Maxim Lapierre. Here’s hoping that Ryane Clowe will shut you up. Third of all that stupid stanchion… Revenge my friends is best served in the cold waters of the Shark Tank.

December 3, 2011: Panthers @ Sharks

The Sharks get to play a Panthers team that has been significantly overhauled this offseason. I’m curious to see how the Panthers look this year. But to be honest, Jose Theodore doesn’t scare me and I think that Kris Versteeg is overrated.

January 12, 2012: Sharks @ Jets

Woo! Hockey is back in the ‘Peg!

February 23, 2012: Sharks @ Leafs

This will be the only time I will get to see the Sharks live this year. Here’s hoping I can score some tickets!

What games are you most looking forward to this year? If you are like me and are a Sharks fan that lives somewhere else in North America, are you planning to see the Sharks when they are on the road? Share your thoughts in the comments section!
