Left 4 Red: Why Playing Detroit Is Like Playing A Zombie Horde

facebooktwitterreddit

Here we go Sharks fans, the game we have been waiting all week for: the Detroit Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena. This is a huge early season test for the Sharks. If the Sharks can play a strong 60 minute game and defeat Detroit, then they are one step closer to regaining their top form. If Detroit beats up on Team Teal tomorrow, then that nice 3 game road win streak could look more like a mirage, and then it’s back to the drawing board again.

This will be no tough task for the Sharks. The reason? The Red Wings are like a horde of never-ending, never-stopping zombies. They never give up, they keep shooting on the net, they keep dangling with the puck like it’s a video game out there. You stop Pavel Datsyuk, Henrik Zetterberg is there. You stop Zetterberg, then Dan Cleary is there. You stop Cleary, then Nicklas Lidstrom is there, etc., etc. They just keep coming… and coming… and coming. Remember last year’s second round playoff series? The Sharks were up 3-0, and those pesky Red Wings pushed us to a game 7.

These Wings are scary good and have an overall talent level in the supernatural range. But you know what? We have our own super heroes, our own zombie slayers. We have “Jumbo” Joe Thornton, Patty Marleau, Douglas Murray, Ryane Clowe, Brent “Burnzie” Burns, and Antti “Nemo” Niemi. We’ll be ready for the zombie horde tomorrow in Detroit. We shall see who will be left standing in victory after 60 minutes.
