San Jose will try to salvage their short three game road trip as they face the Colorado Avalanche tonight.  The Sharks and Avalanche have just two wins in December and hope the national spotlight will jumpstart their season.  Tonight also begins a home and home series, concluding Thursday at the Shark Tank. While Team Teal had a better effort Sunday in Chicago, a 40 minute effort was obvious as the Blackhawks dominated and wore down San Jose to tie and eventually win in overtime.  As the Sharks are still in the top eight in the Western Conference, Colorado has lost three in a row and are currently sitting in 13th spot.  While youth is still reigning in the Rocky Mountains, patience might be getting thin for Avalanche fans and management who hoped to improve on their 2010 playoff run, a six-game series loss to San Jose.

LAST TIME

These teams met on November 20th, resulting in a 4-1 Sharks victory.  Thomas Greiss had a great game with 36 saves, but Patrick Marleau stole the show with his fourth career regular season hat trick.

SIDE NOTES

> Tonight is the last Sharks game on Versus; it will become NBC Sports Network on January 2nd.
