What Does Jamie McGinn Have To Do With The Winter Classic???

It’s all right there in the title. With all of this talk of the Winter Classic due to the premiere of HBO’s 24/7, I thought I’d go ahead and tie our beloved Sharks to it somehow. So what does Jamie McGinn have to do with the Winter Classic? Well, nothing really…but his brother Tye McGinn surely does. Let’s backtrack for a moment shall we? 3 games will be played on the rink being set up for the Winter Classic. The first being the Alumni game in which former players from the Rangers and Flyers respectively, will once again face off against each other on December 31st. The second contest is the actual Winter Classic Game between the Philadelphia Flyers and rival New York Rangers on January 2nd followed by the Third and final tilt on January 6th; a game between the Flyers’ AHL affiliate The Adirondack Phantoms and the Hershey Bears.
So back to Tye McGinn. Tye was selected in the 4th round of the 2010 NHL entry draft by the Philadelphia Flyers and is currently on the roster for the Adirondack Phantoms. So while our very own Jamie McGinn won’t be playing an active role in the Winter Classic festivities, we can all enjoy a good time watching his brother play.
