BoT Gameday: Capitals @ Sharks

San Jose finishes it’s brief two game homestand with a big matchup against preseason favorite Washington tonight at the Shark Tank. The Sharks are now 6-1-1 in their last eight games, while the Capitals have won four straight and now seem to have grasped new coach Dale Hunter’s system.

This matchup at HP Pavilion has been dominated by Team Teal so much in it’s history. You have to go all the way back to Washington’s first meeting in the then named San Jose Arena to see the Sharks lose to the Caps on home ice. 4-2 was the final score and ended the Sharks first winning streak of the year and brought their record to a horrific 2-9-1.

That being said, Tomas Vokoun has been a solid netminder against San Jose. He is 10-0-1 in last 11 starts vs Teal Town. I’ll be shocked if the Caps don’t start the former Nashville Predator and Florida Panther tonight. As for the Sharks, while Antti Niemi got the night off against Columbus, I wouldn’t be surprised if he was in net tonight.

Both teams have killer offenses, strong defenses, and great goaltending. An amazing matchup, many have predicted to be a Stanley Cup Final series. Sharks and Capitals get it on tonight at the Tank.
