Section 101 Ramblings

facebooktwitterreddit

Well, another loss has come and gone at the Shark Tank and another disappointed crowd has spoken. Sitting in Section 101 on Saturday night I had the opportunity to chat with some Sharks fans about the current state of team and what they would like to see…or not see…on the ice. Normally I would reserve such conversations for before or after a game…but really, there wasn’t much to see on Saturday night other than some unenthusiastic play by Team Teal and the game being dominated by the Blues. Best part was probably getting to see the new guys up close during pre-game warmies…little more time and TJ Galiardi will have some decent salad coming out from underneath that bucket of his during games…maybe next time he can get more than 2:30 TOI and 2:00 in the box for high sticking and  prove to us that he was worth the trade. Congrats t0 Jamie McGinn for his Two goals in Colorado by the way….ahem…regardless. Here were the highlights of my evening conversation in the section as the Blues out shot, out skated, and out played the Sharks.

Fans felt as though Handzus has been very aloof and attribute it to the area of town he lives in…perhaps he’s a little too chilled out at home and can’t seem to fire back up as he arrives at the rink…whatever the case may be, there is no denying he seems disinterested and doesn’t always have his head in the game.

We got on the topic of players they’d like to see return to the Tank in Teal…two most prominently mentioned were Ian White…whose name has been thrown out a lot lately in response to that question…and Scott Nichol, who oddly enough was on our ice on Saturday night….just in the “wrong” color.

And the final thing to note from my 101 discussion…it is imperative that the Shark Tank bring back the Zamboni Races! If the team won’t provide entertainment, at least colorful Zambonies and music will.

Yikes, harsh. Good news though Sharks, people still like coming and being frustrated is just part of being a hockey fan from time to time and I don’t for-see anyone giving up those incredible seats on the red line anytime soon…but I think they, just like I, would like to see some W’s coming our way more consistently…at the very least a little more urgency in the games and some fire filling up those 60 minutes of Hockey heaven.
