BoT Gameday: Sharks @ Coyotes

facebooktwitterreddit

February 4th these two teams met when San Jose was fighting to be the #2 seed in the West, and Phoenix was 12th. Things looked bright for the Sharks, and rumors were surrounding at that time if the Coyotes would trade Shane Doan or Ray Whitney to the Sharks. Coyotes went on to win 5-3, and started the turnaround for both teams.

San Jose has gone 4-10-3 since that last meeting in Glendale and barely stayed in the top eight in the West. Phoenix went on an 11-0-1 stretch in February to lead the Pacific, but an 0-4-1 start to March has them clawing for their playoff lives.

After Jeremy Roenick’s comments on NHL.com, the big players stepped it up in Dallas. With Patrick Marleau and Joe Pavelski each scoring goals and Joe Thornton assisting on all three Sharks goals in a shootout loss in the Lone Star State. The effort was good, but not good enough to defeat the Pacific Division leading Stars. That effort plus more will be required to leap frog the Coyotes tonight. LET’S PUCKING DO THIS!
