Around The Watering Hose: Will TM Listen?

facebooktwitterreddit

I would like to throw out a thought that crossed my mind here today. As I was reading over the rumors regarding the men up for the Assistant job in San Jose I started wondering what kind of a leader Todd McLellan is. I work in an environment where I am required to have multiple assistants in order to keep everything running smoothly for the people I am ultimately responsible for and I trust them to do their jobs so I don’t have to do it for them. That being said, if they mess up I intervene, correct the action, and step back out. I am curious if TM runs his staff in the same way. Every once in awhile I find myself trying to intervene and influence situations too much which can be detrimental to my “team” so to speak and I would imagine that for a man in such a position of power like TM, he probably finds himself in that same boat from time to time. I am curious to know how he ruled over the past season, and if this is simply a case of him needing to loosen the reigns on his staff and let them get creative and just trust the process.

Something else I find myself wondering about is whether or not he will take new ideas and run with them. I’m sure whoever comes in to fill positions on the coaching staff will bring new ideas as well. The question really is, how desperate is TM going to be to implement new structures and new systems without feeling like he’s giving up too much control? Just some questions to ponder on this Wednesday evening.
