Player I Hate To Love: Brenden Morrow

facebooktwitterreddit

Why I love to hate Brenden Morrow: He, much like Dustin Brown, is the captain of a hated in-division rival.  He smacks our boys around like they were moles on the other end of a mallet at a carnival.  He CRUSHED us in 2008 by scoring a goal in the 4th OT period to knock us out of the playoffs…a goal so devestating that I can’t include a video, so here’s the post game recap (note who was in the box when he scored: BRIAN CAMPBELL!).  He is younger than me but somehow seems to have about a decade more life experience.   Maybe the worst thing about him?   He spells his name “Brenden.”  Not Brandon, Brenden.  Mr. and Mrs. Morrow, give me a break.

Why I hate to love Brenden Morrow: I love his play for the same reason I hate when we play against him.  He plays like the other team has just stolen his supper.  He is a presence in the playoffs…not just a good player, an important one.  That 2008 playoffs was special for him, not just because he scored 0.5 goals a game but because he was all over the ice.  Anyone reading this knows how important a guy like that is once the calendar turns to April.  He plays on the power play and penalty kill in all three zones.  He’s tough on the boards, in front of the net and in the alley.  I’d love to see him in teal but for now he’s just a player that I hate to love.
