A few current Sharks (Boyle, Marleau, Stuart and Greiss) and one former Shark (Nabokov) have been getting together for a skate regularly at Sharks Ice in San Jose. Attending these skates has become good column fodder, the players have not been shy about sharking lockout opinions post-skate. David Pollack over at the Merc caught up with some of the players and posted on it yesterday, highlighted by some fresh comments by Sharks Alternate Captain, Dan Boyle.

Boyle’s quickly becoming a lightning rod for lockout commentary, it wasn’t that long ago he talked about 8 teams causing a lockout (BOT staff speculation as to who those teams were is posted here). His new comments aren’t as scathing, but sound like a man who just wants another shot at the Cup before the team’s window closes. True, Danny. The Sharks have a young core (Couture, Burns, Pavelski) and an older core (Thornton, Boyle, Marleau), and time is running out for the older guys. Lost in these lockouts has been that they can be achievement and career killers. THN did a piece where they highlighted this. There are plenty of guys on their last legs who’re searching for their first (Roloson) or final (Jagr) Stanley Cup. These guys certainly have an incentive to see this lockout end ASAP.
FYI, Puck Daddy has been posting a mountain of NHLer-related offshore highlights. Scott Semmler over at Bleacher Report has put together some regular updates on what our team’s players have been doing. And I have been thinking of getting a Thornton Davos jersey for about a month now. It’s all nice, but really I’m dying for this lockout to be over.
In list-related news, my inbox has been flooded with people who’re starving for more lists. While the public outcry has been loud, I needed a break. What am I, some sort of list-making machine? It’s been argued that this is, indeed, the case. More lists will be forthcoming, but for now, settle down. I have proven my list-making prowess in the past and will continue to prove it going forward.
