Worcester Sharks and San Francisco Bulls Game Day Report

Today both minor leagues club of the San Jose Sharks are in action Tonight.  Worcester Sharks play hosts to the Boston Bruins AHL affiliate the Providence Bruins for the first time of the season.  Worcester has won the last three meetings of the season series and hold 3-0 lead on the Bruins.  In addition, tonight games is one of six home games vs their divisional foe.  The Sharks last win against Providence was on December 2 that ended in a 3-2 shootout with James Sheppard scoring Worcester’s only goal in the special skills competition segment.  Furthermore, Sharks goaltender Harri Sateri had his busiest night of the season as he turned away 50 shots that the Bruins gave him and only gave up 2 goals and stopped all five shots in the shootout round.  Also on that night, Worcester was a perfect 4-4 on the penalty kill.  Meanwhile, last night their opponent Providence faced off against the Manchester Monarchs at their home the Dunkin’ Donuts Center it which the saw each team with 30 shots on goal.  The game did go to the Bruins as they came away with a 3-2 victory.  After their win over Manchester, Bruins forward Chris Bourque leads his club with 13 assists and 15 points on the season.  Entering into tonight’s game, Providence sits in fourth place of the AHL’s Atlantic Division and ninth place overall in the Eastern Conference with a 10-8-0-2 record thru 20 games with a 0.550 winning percentage.  As for Worcester, they enter tonight’s contest in first place in Atlantic and just one point ahead of Manchester with a 11-8-1-1 record and third overall in the Eastern Conference.  Players to look out for in tonight’s contests for Worcester are Tim Kennedy, Sena Acolaste, James Sheppard, and Sebastian Stalberg who a combined total of 23 goals, 33 assists, and 56 points.  On the Providence side, Chris Bourque, Ryan Spooner, Jamie Tardif, and Christian Hanson with a total of 17 goals, 30 assists, and 47 points.  Puck is set to drop at 7:00pm EST at the DCU Center in Worcester.  Listeners can tune on WTAG 580AM and 94.9FM or enjoy live streaming coverage on WTAG.com.  Tonight’s game for those of users who have an account be seen on AHL Live.  Lets Go Worcester!!!!!!!!

Last night San Francisco hosted the Colorado Eagles who are affiliated with St. John Ice Caps of the American Hockey League and the Winnipeg Jets of the NHL for the first of the season on Teddy Bear Toss night that featured the ECHL’s most powerful scoring line that featured Chad Costello, Jack Combs, and Michael Forney.  Both teams played a physical game that featured three scraps, two in which happened in the games first ten minutes.  However that played right into Colorado’s hand as San Francisco got into penalty trouble with back to back boarding minors.  Colorado took advantage of that a got themselves on the board with a goal from none other in that of Chad Costello who recently was named Reebok Hockey ECHL’s Player of the month of November.  Throughout the game, Colorado would continue to put some distant on San Francisco as they scored three unanswered goals in the second period.  In the third period, San Francisco finally got themselves on the board as fans got their opportunity to be inducted into the Teddy Bear Toss Club with Jordan Morrison getting the Bulls only goal of the night.  The Eagles who put one more tally in as they won 5-1 and snapped San Francisco’s four game winning streak at home as well as a 3-0 lead on the season series.  The Bulls will try again for the fourth time tonight and attempt to pick up their first win against Colorado.  Puck is set to drop at 7:15p at the legendary Cow Palace.  Listeners can enjoy live streaming radio coverage on KNBR.com and America One Sports users can tune in live online for some Saturday night hockey.  Lets Go Bulls!!!!!!!!
