Tonight the Worcester Sharks are in action as they face the Springfield Falcons.  The Falcons are the affiliate to the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets.  Tonight’s contest is the first between the two based AHL franchises Massachusetts.  Worcester is coming off of a 7-3 loss courtesy to the Portland Pirates.  That loss was a similar one by the Pirates that dates back to early part of the season, the only difference in that affair is that it featured a 7-4 defeat.  For the visiting Falcons, they recently defeated the Providence Bruins by a final score of 4-1.  As it stands as of tonight, the Falcons are currently in first place of the AHL’s Northeast Division with a 19-9-2-3 record and placed third overall in the Eastern Conference.  As for the Worcester Sharks, they sit in second place of the Atlantic Division and fifth overall in the East with an 18-13-1-2 record.

The Sharks host their state rivals for some Friday night action at the DCU Center.  Puck is set drop at 7:30p EST and the game can be heard on WTAG News/Talk 580 and 94.9 FM.  In addition, the contest can be seen live at AHL Live on their website.
