Sharks Extend Pavelski

The San Jose Sharks announced late Tuesday that they have signed Joe Pavelski to a five year contract extension. The extension will keep Pavelski, 29, with team teal through the 2018-19 season and will take effect on July 1st, 2014. Selected in the seventh round of the NHL’s 2003 re-entry draft, Pavelski has netted 150 career goals while notching 186 career assists in 479 career games in teal. In 74 career Stanley Cup playoff games, Pavelski has 26 post season goals to go along with 24 more assists. In the lockout shortened 2012-13 season, Pavelski played in all 48 regular season games plus all 11 playoff games the Sharks participated in. During the regular season Pavelski scored 16 goals and added 15 assist, then added four more goals and eight assists in this post season versus Vancouver and Los Angeles. Logan Couture was also signed earlier this month that will take him through the same five year period ending in 2018-19.
