Matt Nieto registered his first NHL assist on the 2nd sharks goal of the game. Just a period later, he got on the scoresheet again with his first ever NHL goal, assisted by Tommy Wingels and Joe Pavelski. At the time of Nieto’s goal, the game was still a close one at 2-1. Nieto made it 3-1 and kickstarted a trend that will send Henrik Lundqvist nightmares. A minute later, Tomas Hertl made it 4-1. 20 seconds later, Logan Couture scored to make it 5-1. Then Hertl registered his second of the game, 6-1. This all happened in the 2nd period of the Sharks 3rd game at the SAP Center versus the Rangers.

Nieto’s goal came off the rebound of a shot by Wingels after the puck was sent through the crease by Pavelski. Rookie Matt Nieto made no mistake on the rebound waiting in front of Lundqvist’s crease, cooly putting it into the back of the net. You can watch the replay here.
