If you look at the list of San Jose Sharks defensemen and consider them as individuals, you aren’t likely to come away too impressed. Not when guys like P.K. Subban and Erik Karlsson are posting 60 points in a season while really playing a forward position from the blue line and pretending to be a defender.

As a unit though, San Jose’s group of guys is rock solid. There are shutdown options galore, and the likes of Marc-Edouard Vlasic and Scott Hannan truly shine when defensive roles.

That doesn’t mean they aren’t capable of pitching in on offense though. This group of seven guys has posted 17 points already in this young season and will continue to build on that impressive number as the forward group continues to settle in.

Here’s how we think each D as an individual has done so far this season.
