The San Jose Sharks keep waiting for positive news on the injury front, and just aren’t getting much of it. Brent Burns wasn’t expected to miss more than a game, but he’s not on the current five-game road trip for the Sharks. There’s only one more contest left in that trip, but it isn’t until Wednesday against the Los Angeles Kings.

It’s fair to say that there’s been some lack of clarity surrounding the seriousness of the injury to Burns.

Since Burns went down with the injury to his mouth, the Sharks haven’t been able to settle on a replacement winger on that top line alongside Joe Thornton and Tomas Hertl. Among the players who got a look on that wing is Freddie Hamilton, who didn’t suit up as the Sharks took on the Ottawa Senators tonight.

San Jose is finding ways to get it done without their top-line winger and top offensive-defenseman in Dan Boyle though. They’ve still only lost one game in regulation, and teams around the league are likely a tad bit worried about what this team will be capable of once everyone is healthy.
