The last time these two Pacific Division rivals played was on March 27, 2013 where the Sharks blew out the Ducks, 4-0 at HP Pavilion. Tonight, the Sharks look to continue and end their perfect 4 and 0 home stand against a very tough opponent, the Anaheim Ducks.

The Sharks and Ducks are currently tied for 1st place in the Pacific Division with 39 points, making this contest even more important. This matchup is not only decisive in the standings department but it could also affect the Sharks’ mental state as they embark on their next 4-game road-trip after tonight.

Brent Burns has been in and around the headlines for the Sharks lately. He missed 13 straight games with “sore gums” and yesterday, in just his fourth game back, he recorded his first ever NHL hat trick to propel the Sharks over the Blues. The Sharks need to continue to ride his hot-streak rather than get complacent if they want to be able to defend their 4 game winning streak.

Both teams have been red-hot this year, both teams hate each other. What more would you want?
