There are just 29 more days until the season opener for the San Jose Sharks and today we look at the best number 29 in Sharks history. The best number 29 in San Jose Sharks history is a player that Sharks fans know and love in recent memory, but his San Jose career ended rough.

Ryane Clowe was drafted in the 6th round of the 2001 NHL Draft by the San Jose Sharks, and from his first full season in the NHL, Clowe showed a strong balance of offensive production and physicality. He was a player that could get a clutch goal when they needed one, but could also drop the gloves and fight when the team needed a spark. He was also a strong playoff performer in his time with the Sharks.

However, Clowe’s final season with the Sharks didn’t go the way he had hoped. Clowe couldn’t score a goal and sometimes lost his temper and created a few bad situations for the Sharks with some untimely penalties. One game that comes to mind was a game against Vancouver where Clowe got so many penalties that before the end of the game he was kicked out. At the trade deadline he was sent to the Rangers, where he scored two goals in his first game. But Sharks fans aren’t bitter about that or anything…

However, despite the less than impressive final year with the Sharks, fans do still have strong memories of the Ryane Clowe we all know and love. A physical, offensive player that would come through in the clutch when needed.

Tomorrow we look at the best number 28 in Sharks history. That is, if I can put down my controller and stop playing Destiny and NHL…..
