In November of 2005, the San Jose Sharks pulled off the greatest trade in team history. During a game against the Dallas Stars, it was announced that the Sharks had acquired former No. 1 overall pick in the 1999 NHL draft, Joe Thornton. At the time, Sharks fans were ecstatic about the trade, and the excitement has continued ever since. Joe Thornton went on to win the Hart Trophy that year with the Sharks and has since become a team legend. Thornton is arguably the greatest Shark of all time.

I could go on and on about how talented Joe Thornton is. I could mention the fact that he has 100 playoff points in 132 playoff games. Or how he has over 1,000 career points and is in the top 40 in NHL history for assists. But I think it’s just easier to show what Joe Thornton can do with the puck. For example, his pass against the Colorado Avalanche two years ago. There was also a pass against the Oilers that same season where he did basically the same thing.

Then there’s the most famous pass of Joe Thornton’s career. The pass:

Whenever you see number 19 get the puck on his stick, you have to understand that there is always a very real possibility that the Sharks can score no matter where he is or who he is up against. It’s an honor to watch a future hall of famer in teal.
