Another day has passed since the San Jose Sharks locker room clean-out day. While there still has been no word on head coach Todd McLellan’s future, a report has surfaced — according to CSN Bay Area Sharks’ Insider Kevin Kurz and CSNPhilly.com — that the Philadelphia Flyers in the East are eyeing the Sharks’ head coach should he be let go from the organization.

Earlier this morning, the Flyers fired their former head coach Craig Berube after two seasons behind the bench. Mike Babcock of the Detroit Red Wings and Claude Julien of the Boston Bruins are the other two targets for Philadelphia, should they lose their jobs as well.

McLellan’s future is expected to be decided by April 24th, when he leaves for the Czech Republic as head coach for Team Canada in the IIHF World Championships. He has one year left on his contract. If he does decide to leave or agrees to depart the organization in any way and take on another head coaching job, the Sharks would receive a third round pick as compensation.
