The San Jose Sharks will officially begin training camp tomorrow, but general manager Doug Wilson has already tinkered with the roster that will take part in the first official practice session of the year.

Earlier today, the Sharks announced that they have trimmed their training camp roster by eight players, thus leaving 55 players remaining as the San Jose Sharks kick off preparations for the 2015-16 season.

Goaltender Liam Herbst, defenseman Cavan Fitzgerald, and forwards Stephen Harper, Joey Ratelle and Gabryel Boudreau were all released from their tryout agreements with the Sharks. Meanwhile, unsigned draft picks Alexis Vanier (defenseman, Sherbrooke QMJHL), Kevin Labanc (forward, Barrie OHL) and Alex Schoenborn (forward, Portland WHL) were all returned to their clubs.

The biggest name Sharks fans might recognize is Boudreau, who was San Jose’s second-round pick back in 2013. Boudreau battled injuries, then re-entered the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. After going undrafted, Boudreau received an invite to training camp from the Sharks, but has already been cut as it was clear he wasn’t going to factor into the organization’s plans.

San Jose begins training camp tomorrow, Sept. 18, at 9:30 a.m. at Sharks Ice in San Jose, as the team will be split up into two groups. Both groups will take part in Friday’s initial session.
