The San Jose Sharks had a rough beginning to their week, but their cross-country trek has seen their play improve as the Sharks were able to pick up consecutive victories for the first time since their four-game winning streak to begin the season. San Jose has started their 10-day, six-game road trip with a pair of solid efforts that have seen them inch back over the .500 mark for the season.

Below is the latest weekly roundup recapping a solid week of action for San Jose, that was filled with plenty of on-and-off-ice action.

– The rumors began flying around the longest-tenured player in Sharks history when it was widely discussed that Patrick Marleau would entertain a trade. Three potential destinations emerged as it was reported that Marleau would waive his no-trade clause for a move to the Los Angeles Kings, Anaheim Ducks or New York Rangers.

– Speaking of Marleau, he continued to produce on the ice for the Sharks, scoring the game-winning goal in overtime to down the Buffalo Sabres by a 2-1 margin and give San Jose a 2-0 start to their six-game road trip. The victory was only the Sharks second-ever against the Sabres in Buffalo.

– San Jose kicked off their longest road trip of the season against the Detroit Red Wings where Martin Jones helped back stop the Sharks to a 3-2 victory. Jones stopped 26 of 28 shots as he was the best Sharks player on the ice as his teammates could only muster just 14 shots on target.

– With all the noise surrounding this Sharks team, San Jose was looking to use this road trip to gel both on-and-off the ice. The Sharks brought in many new faces and they’ve struggled to establish any sort of consistency in their game. With a 10-day roadie ahead of them, now is the perfect time for this team to come together.

– As many of you know, the Sharks are celebrating their 25th Anniversary as a franchise and they are honoring key players and moments throughout the course of the season. Last week, San Jose announced three additional Alumni Nights to honor Jamie Baker, Arturs Irbe and Jeff Odgers.

– Before San Jose hit the road, they suffered another crushing loss at home, falling to the New York Islanders by a 4-2 margin as Jones was pulled after allowing two goals on the first three shots he faced.

– Finally, the Sharks haven’t been the only San Jose hockey team struggling of late as the San Jose Barracuda were handed three-straight losses as they can’t find any offense at the moment.
