If You Are Gonna Beat Us…

I seem to be full of post season gripes lately and this morning as I looked over NHL.com and listened to NHL Home Ice I realized that there was another thing that has recently been bothering me that I figured I would share with you all. The fact that St. Louis is down two games to LA makes me a little annoyed. Seriously, if you beat us, then please do us the honor of following through and winning at least one of the first two games. If I had it my way, they would be up two games and go forward to sweep LA in four. But since I don’t control the cosmos or the ever tumultuous hockey gods there isn’t much I can do to right this situation. As far as the goal tending situation in LA, Quick seems to be doing the trick (pardon the rhyme here), and a goalie I had little faith in to begin with is now proving me wrong…I just really wish he wasn’t.

Aggravating my playoff angst even more for me is the Nashville/Phoenix series and the fact that I am a big Pekka Rinne fan. Ok, I know, my loyalty should lay only with the Sharks, but I think you all know by now that I just appreciate this sport and great players in general. It disappoints me that Rinne has yet to get a W in this series. Granted, there could still be quite a few more games for the Preds and Yotes, so I shouldn’t count my chickens before they hatch, but I am concerned that this may not go in Nashville’s favor.

I guess only time will tell what will happen to Rinne and the rest of the Preds, and hopefully the benching of Radulov and Kostitsyn in the game tonight won’t have a negative impact on the team. Not that Radulov has been all that and a bag of potato chips in this series anyway, but you never know how the omission or interjection of a player will affect team dynamics. Seems to me the more hype surrounding a player returning to a line up the more shaken up the results of games go…just ask the Pens…
