Going back to Cali, Cali, Cali. A lyric once used by LL Cool J and Nortorious B.I.G. And that’s where this series is headed. For the first time, Staples Center will be hosting a professional league championship game that isn’t basketball. The Los Angeles Kings continue to pull out overtime victories and now have a chance to win the Stanley Cup on home ice by Wednesday. But first, the New Jersey Devils will try to ruin that idea and force a Game 5 in New Jersey on Saturday night.
For a team that has only scored six power play goals, the run the Kings are having is very impressive. Even one last night might have put the game out of reach for the Devils to catch up. Now it’s time for New Jersey’s star players to step up and show they belong here. They’ve been stifled by Los Angeles’ tough defense and unreal play by Jonathan Quick.
Heading to Los Angeles tomorrow, and hope to have a “live” gameday blog for you on either Wednesday or Friday. As a Sharks fan, I really don’t want to be in L.A. if they win the Cup. Come on Devils, get back into this series!
