What looked like a coronation all set to go last Wednesday, has suddenly become the Kings’ biggest battle they’ve faced since the Sharks beat them at the end of the season. Now a win tonight to take home the prize their franchise has been waiting for since 1967, or a winner take all Game 7 in two days that could be of historical proportions.
Just bad miscues by the Kings’ defense and lapses by Jonathan Quick has sent this series to a Game 6. New Jersey continues to take advantage of these breaks and boinks (just ask Slava Voynov in Game 5) and frustrate Los Angeles. New Jersey, while on the verge of losing the Cup, have to think the pressure is suddenly on Los Angeles not finishing the mission. However, the Kings have two chances to do it, though, I can’t see them wanting to fly back to Newark. After all, if something needs to get done, you get it done as soon as possible.
On the other hand, New Jersey can force a Game 7 and if they pull it off become the first team since the 1942 Toronto Maple Leafs to be down 0-3 and win the Stanley Cup. Massively huge game tonight, and even if you aren’t a fan of the two teams, tune in. It should be an epic game.
