NHL Lockout: I’m over it, it’s time for some hockey!

facebooktwitterreddit

The weather is getting colder in the Bay Area, which means hockey season is soon to come; or, at least it should be coming. However, the word on the street is grim. There has been meeting after meeting for weeks after weeks to no avail. The issue is always, and only, about money. This was a great article off of about.com that tells us what the issue is (in case you do not know, it’s just a 5 minute read, if that): http://proicehockey.about.com/od/nhlnewsscoresstats/a/Nhl-Lockout-In-2012-A-Look-At-The-Issues.htm

Well, I think it’s time we tell the NHL that enough is enough. Ultimately, we have all the power. How you might ask? Well… We are the ones spending the money, we are the ones filling the stadiums, and we are ultimately the people that gets to decide what we want, how we want it, and when we want it. So, what can we do? Twitter… Trust me, Twitter has a lot more power now than ever before. If you think otherwise, you are wrong. I would suggest tweeting Commissioner Gary Bettman, The NHL, the team you’re representing (obviously the Sharks, but maybe other teams too), and NHL players. If we can get enough people to do this, the NHL will have to listen.

If they want to lock us out, we can lock our wallets. Inspirational video that just makes me love hockey fans more:

In other news, Save San Mateo Ice!
San Mateo Mayor and City Council wants to take away a Bay Area ice rink. San Mateo has one of the best ice surfaces for recreational skating and hockey. It is one of the only ones in the Peninsula that has space for parties, locker rooms for players, and regulation rink for hockey. I personally play here and think this place is great, but we need to work as a community to save this place! We just need 50 more signature to make some impact!
