Today, the Worcester Sharks are on the road to faceoff against the Manchester Monarchs in matinee action.  Last night the Sharks hosted the Providence Bruins in a game that saw the battle of the heavy weights that featured a bout in Worcester’s Frazer McLaren who is known to many Sharks fans in Massachusetts as the Sheriff. He would then go toe to toe with Bruins tough guy Lane Macdermid who traded blow after blow as Frazer would eventually get the decision in TKO like fashion.  The Sharks stuck early in the first when Yanni Gourde put the rubber past Bruins goaltender Michael Hutchinson.  In the second both teams would go after one another as they traded slashes to keep the games intensity level up.  In the games final period, things would get interesting when Bruins Jamie Tardif scored off of a deflection that had Sharks goaltender Alex Stalock fooled to tie the game up at 1 apiece.  In the late stages of regulation, Worcester’s Brodie Reid ripped it past Hutchinson to put the Sharks ahead 2-1, but their lead was short lived because Providence’s Bartkowski hammered it home as it required video review to determine that indeed he did score to tie the contest up at 2.  The contest went it overtime where the Sharks had the prime opportunity to put the Bruins away on the power play but came up short that brought the game into the shootout competition.  In the shootout, both goaltenders stopped the first five shots until Bruins Maxime Suave deked Stalock to go to his left and put the puck past him on the right side to put Providence ahead in the shootout.  The Sharks last hope went to Brandon Mashinter that went it on Hutchinson as he would whistle the puck wide of the net as the Bruins won at a final score of 3-2.  Worcester will be looking to put that shootout loss behind them today in New Hampshire as Harri Sateri will be in net for Worcester as Peter Mannino will be between the pipes for Manchester.  Puck is set to drop at 3:00pm EST at the Verizon Wireless Arena in downtown Manchester.  Listeners can enjoy streaming radio coverage on WTAG News/Talk 580 and 94.9 FM and on your radio dial.  The game will be available on AHL Live for users who have an account with them.  Lets Go Sharks!!!!!!!!
