NHL Trade Rumors: Sharks Unlikely to Make Any Moves Before Deadline

In a matter of hours, San Jose Sharks fans have gone from feeling excited to deflated. And I’m not talking about the 3-2 loss to the lowly Hurricanes.

I’m talking about the trade rumors that have swirled since Tuesday afternoon leading up to the Wednesday trade deadline in the NHL, and the Sharks have been mentioned in several reports.

The first was from TSN’s Bob McKenzie, who reported that the Sharks and Jets were discussing a potential deal that would send former Shark Devin Setoguchi back to San Jose.

Then, a report out of Winnipeg suggested that the Sharks were “aggressively pursuing” Islanders’ forward Thomas Vanek, who will more than likely be dealt before the deadline. This would be a blockbuster deal, one that would immediately increase the Sharks’ chances at a deep playoff run.

Well, Kevin Kurz of CSN shot down both rumors on Tuesday night with this adamant tweet:

So, we have “bogus” on the Vanek deal, and “unlikely” for the return of Seto.

Damn it, Kevin, can’t you just let us dream?
