When Doug Wilson re-signed Scott Hannan to a one year deal, many hockey pundits questioned the Sharks’ wisdom and questioned their decision. Scott Hannan was not very effective for the San Jose Sharks last season as a goal scorer but he provided the veteran presence on the blue line and mentored the young players to grow defensively.

2013- 2014 Season Review

In 2013-2014, Scott Hannan was not an offensive defensemen, but he produced timely goals. Throughout 56 regular season games, Hannan had 3 goals, 9 assists and a +\- of 12. He had solid defensive chemistry with Marc Edouard Vlasic. During the postseason, Hannan recorded two assists throughout all seven games.

Offseason Events

As mentioned, Hannan was resigned to a one-year deal during the offseason.

2014-2015 Prediction

The Sharks will not be looking for Scott Hannan to provide points for the blue line. They will expect him to teach the younger guys like Demers and Braun to play solid defense. Demers and Braun should have a good season with Scott Hannan as their mentor.
