Adam Burish has officially been reassigned to Worcester as of yesterday. Over the course of 20 games so far this season, the 31 year old had only one goal and two assists for the San Jose Sharks. Not to mention he had a plus/minus rating of -6.
After being placed on waivers Friday, he proceeded to be unclaimed. This is most likely due to his $1.85 million salary which carries him through the 2015-16 campaign. The salary cap could likely be the main reason that no one picked him up. Even reassigning Burish to Worcester, a pro-rated $925,000 will continue to count against the Sharks salary cap while he is in Worcester.
Burish also has 33 penalty minutes so far in the season. He is definitely a player that takes one too many unnecessary minor penalties in games where it can really take a toll on the final score. This definitely had to weigh in on the decision to no longer use him.
