Sharks Fall to the LA Kings in Season Finale

Sharks Fall to Kings

While today’s game was completely meaningless to these two California rivals who won’t be making the post-season, state bragging rights were on the line as the Los Angeles Kings beat the San Jose Sharks 4-1 at Staples Center.

Team Teal Cashes In Early

It seemed like it was going to be a pretty close match that was in the Sharks’ favor in the early going as the Sharks’ were given an early power play as the Kings’ Robyn Regehr would be sent to the penalty box on an interference call against Sharks’ forward Logan Couture. Defenseman Brent Burns (Assists: Joe Pavelski (33), Joe Thornton (49)) cashed in on the man-advantage after a pretty pass from Pavelski in the slot. The Sharks’ 1-0 lead held throughout the rest of the first period.

Kings Strike Back and Don’t Look Back

Starting from the second period, it would be all Kings on the scoreboard as Tyler Tiffoli (Assists: Jarret Stoll (11), Andy Andreoff (1)) netted his 23d goal of the season to tie it up at 1. Then Brayden McNabb (Assists: Drew Doughty (39), Jeff Carter (34)) put in his 2nd goal of the season, and Marian Gaborik  (Assists: Jake Muzzin, Justin Williams) chipped into the goal scoring with his 27th of the season. Rookie Andreoff (Assist: Tiffoli) would add an empty-netter to seal the deal at 4-1.

An Interesting Off-season

I’ve talked and harped a lot about the Sharks’ problems and, well, one can only hope those issues will most certainly be addressed as the Stanley Cup Playoffs draw nearer. It’s been a relatively fun ride with all you guys reading these articles. I’m not going away any time soon. It was a bitter season to say the very least, but again, one can only hope the best is still ahead for this organization. That said, unless I do another article here and there during the off-season (which I probably will do maybe one or two), see you guys next season.
