The San Jose Sharks have their new head coach. Now, the next question is who will join Peter DeBoer behind the bench?

In his introductory press conference, DeBoer talked about how he wanted to assemble his staff in the near future, and Doug Wilson said DeBoer will have the necessary means to get the people he wants. While the process will likely take a little bit of time, DeBoer said they want to make sure they target and bring in the right people.

It looks like one of the names who DeBoer will covet has been identified. In a story published by Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area, it appears that Dave Barr, who served as an assistant with DeBoer in New Jersey, could be heading west. Barr’s NHL-experience includes assistant coaching stops with the Colorado Avalanche and Minnesota Wild.

Meanwhile, one name who also served as an assistant to DeBoer with the New Jersey Devils who is already with the Sharks is Larry Robinson. However, as Kurz points out, Robinson will not be joining DeBoer behind the bench as he transition into his full-time front office position. Next year, Robinson will serve as the director of player development.

If the Sharks were to look interally within the organization, two names that Kurz mentions are Bryan Marchment and Mike Ricci, who both have been within the San Jose as players and the front office. DeBoer said he was familiar with both of them.

Needless to say, DeBoer and the Sharks will take their time in putting together their staff but it will be interesting to see the kind of experience that is assembled.
