In case many of you were celebrating the Father’s Day weekend and the official beginning of summer, no worries, get caught up with all your San Jose Sharks news from over the weekend.
– The Sharks appear to have made multiple personnel decisions regarding players on their current roster. Adam Burish cleared waivers for purpose of a buyout, while general manager Doug Wilson announced that Scott Hannan and John Scott won’t be back with the organization next year. Read all about those decisions here.
– Roy Sommer, who has coached the Sharks AHL development affiliate for the past 17 years, will continue to serve as head coach of the San Jose Barracuda as they will begin their first season as a franchise in 2015-16. Sommer needs just 19 wins to become the AHL all-time leader in wins.
– While the status of free agent goaltender Antti Niemi is still undecided, it appears that Wilson has zeroed in on New York Rangers backup goalie Cam Talbot as a potential replacement. Talbot posted a 21-9-4 record in 36 appearances last season.
– The NHL Draft will be held in Sunrise, Florida on June 26 and 27, and the Sharks figure to be active players. San Jose currently holds the number nine overall selection, and Wilson fully expects the Sharks to make that selection when they are on the clock.
