The San Jose Sharks will be holding their third annual prospects summer scrimmage on Thursday, July 9 at 7 p.m. and the event will be headlined by some familiar names for Sharks fans.
The organization released the roster for the event on Friday and rookie sensation Chris Tierney will be participating for the second consecutive season. Tierney was a breakout player for San Jose over the final month of the year after struggling in the early going. In 43 games with the Sharks, Tierney posted six goals and 15 assists and was a plus-three.
Other notable San Jose players who will be participating in the scrimmage include 2013 first-round pick Mirco Mueller and Barclay Goodrow, who combined to appear in 99 games in their rookie seasons with the Sharks.
Some top prospects will also be on hand at the event as 2014 first-round pick Nikolay Goldobin will be joined by fellow 2014 draftees in defenseman Julius Bergman and forward Rourke Chartier. Also, 2015 first-round selection Timo Meier, 2015 second-round pick Jeremy Roy, and both 2015 drafted goaltenders in Mike Robinson and Jake Kupsky will be in attendance.
Finally, recent free agent signings Joonas Donskoi and Nikita Jevpalovs will participate in the scrimmage which will be broken into two 25-minute halves.
Tickets for the event are $5 each and all the proceeds will benefit the Sharks Foundation. This will be the first look at San Jose’s top prospects and a one or two could potentially find their way on to the Sharks roster at some point next season.
