The San Jose Barracuda wrapped up their season-high, seven-game road trip on a high note as the Barracuda took home a 3-1 victory over the Charlotte Checkers, the top development affiliate of the Carolina Hurricanes.
San Jose jumped out to the early lead behind a pair of goals first period goals from Gregor Hanson and Trevor Parkes, as each netted their second goals of the season in staking the Barracuda to a 2-0 lead after one period of play as San Jose outshot Charlotte by a 12-4 margin.
However, the Checkers would respond in the second, outshooting the Barracuda 12-2 and scoring the lone goal of the period, but San Jose came out strong in the third as Nikolay Goldobin added an insurance tally to give the Barracuda a 3-1 win as their seven-game road trip came to an end.
Goaltender Troy Grosenick was not nearly as busy as his previous outing between the pipes, as he only had to make 19 saves in picking up his third victory of the season.

One night earlier, it was the Checkers who bettered the Barracuda by a 3-1 margin. Charlotte’s victory snapped a four-game point streak for San Jose as the Checkers really took the game to the Barracuda from the get-go.
Charlotte would score three first-period goals over the course of the final six minutes to really put San Jose in a bind after the first 20 minutes. Brock McGinn would score twice and Zach Boychuk also snuck one past Barracuda netminder Aaron Dell, who finished the game with just 16 saves.
Jeremy Langlois was able to snap the shutout bid by Charlotte, scoring his fifth goal of the season with only 14 seconds remaining in the game. The loss snapped a 2-0-0-2 streak for the Barracuda.
Before they traveled to Charlotte, San Jose had one final game in California on their seven-game trip. The Barracuda faced off against the Stockton Heat, top affiliate of the Calgary Flames. Once again, San Jose stared an early deficit in the face as Stockton would take a 2-0 lead behind a pair of odd-man rushes.
However, the Barracuda responded with three consecutive goals to take a 3-2 lead. Barcaly Goodrow would kick off the scoring, tipping home Mark Cundari’s shot on the power play for his third goal in a Barracuda uniform.
Then, Scott Timmins would tie things up early in the third period, before John McCarthy gave San Jose the lead when he converted a 2-on-1 rush less than three minutes after Timmins’ tally.
Unfortunately for the Barracuda, they couldn’t make Grosenick’s hard work stand up. Grosenick would end up making 49 saves on the night, but Emile Poirier scored his first of the season to tie the game before the Heat eventually won the game in a shootout.
