San Jose will find out their opponent in the Stanley Cup Final later tonight when the Penguins and Lightning square off in Game 7.
The jubilation following last night’s historic victory for the San Jose Sharks has not worn off as teal-clad fans everywhere are still reveling in reaching the Stanley Cup Final for the first time in franchise history.
The biggest question remaining is who team teal will play and where the series will begin?
Well, that will all be determined later tonight when the Pittsburgh Penguins and Tampa Bay Lightning face off in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Final with the winner drawing the Sharks on Monday night.
If Pittsburgh takes Game 7 on home ice, then San Jose will be traveling across the country to take on the Penguins in Game 1, but if Tampa Bay is able to pull off the upset, the Sharks will host the Lightning and have home ice in the Cup Finals.

If you’re a Sharks fan, I think you root for Tampa Bay tonight because that ensures San Jose has home ice advantage. Team teal has clearly figured out their home ice woes as they’ve gone 7-2 at the Shark Tank in these playoffs, which was going absolutely berserk lat night.
Next: Sharks Backed It Up To Reach Cup Final
San Jose split both meetings against Pittsburgh and Tampa during the regular seasons, winning both times on the road and dropping both games at home.
While team teal doesn’t really care either way, I think the Sharks would have a decided advantage with home ice as they’re rolling and are used to the cross-country travel. Regardless, San Jose and their fans can kick back tonight and enjoy a Game 7 knowing their team will be rested and waiting in the Stanley Cup Final.
