The San Jose Sharks Have Traded for Erik Karlsson
THE SAN JOSE SHARKS HAVE TRADED FOR ERIK KARLSSON, THE SAN JOSE SHARKS HAVE TRADED FOR ERIK KARLSSON, THE SAN JOSE SHARKS HAVE TRADED FOR ERIK KARLSSON. The Sharks finally get the superstar they have so coveted.
There has to be a warrant out for Doug Wilson’s arrest in the Province of Ontario, because the San Jose Sharks have just committed highway robbery!
You’re reading that correctly. Your eyes are not deceiving you. The San Jose Sharks have traded Chris Tierney, Dylan Demelo, Rudolfs Balcers, #2 prospect Josh Norris, a 2019 second round pick and a 2020 first round pick and conditional draft picks to the Ottawa Senators for two time Norris Trophy winner, Erik Karlsson.
As far as trades are concerned. This is an absolute coup by the San Jose Sharks. But, its about par for the course for ol’ Doug Wilson. He has a track record of fleecing stupid teams, and getting the most out of what seems to be the least.
We all remember the most famous of Doug Wilson fleecings:
Now Heatley had an up and down tenure with San Jose but he still had 84 points in the 09-10 season and helped the Sharks advance to their first Western Conference Final in team history. We know what happened after that. This is an optimistic article, so we won’t bring that up.
Doug Wilson took a break for a little while until Draft Day of 2015.
You could argue the first fleecing of the Senators was Mikkel Boedker, Julius Bergman, and a 2020 sixth round pick, for Mike Hoffman. Hoffman was immediately flipped to the Florida Panthers for a 2019 Second Round Pick (which is now owned by Ottawa), and a 2018 4th and 5th rounder.
And now you add this one to the list. This trade has potential to be the biggest one of them all. This makes the Sharks more than legit contenders in the Western Conference, it may even make them the favorite. There are still some great teams in the West, like Nashville, Winnipeg, and Vegas. All those teams will have something to say during the regular season, but add the San Jose Sharks to that list.
The Sharks have been one player away for years, they’ve been a good team, not a great team. Now, with the addition of Erik Karlsson, they are a great team. The Western Conference just got put on notice. Its going to be a dogfight for the Western Banner. Oh, and in regards to our next post. It might just be. It might just be.
