San Jose Sharks captain Logan Couture out week-to-week after injury setback with his groin
Logan Couture missed the entire first half of the season with a groin injury, and it took him months to work himself into a position where he was able to resume his illustrious NHL career. Working for months to try and get himself into a position to rejoin his team and continue to fill the leadership void that has been there since Patrick Marleau headed to Toronto, Joe Thornton did a retirement tour of the east coast, and Joe Pavelski headed to Dallas.
Just a few hours after the Sharks announced that alternate captain Tomas Hertl was going to miss significant time after having surgery to clean up cartilidge in his left knee, Couture is announced to be week to week. It means that the San Jose Sharks are going to be without two of their leaders and two veteran forwards for the foreseeable future as they try to ride this storm out to the deadline without getting submerged by the woes.
For those of you that want the best possible draft position for the Sharks, this is going to help that narrative. There's no denying that without the two best centers the team has, and a lot of the club about to be sold to other teams in the NHL, the suffering we have endured is going to get worse. We were promised pain in this rebuild, and we're going to get it as the team continues to suffer with injuries.
In just six games this season, Couture has onlt added a single assist to his career titles, but in his 933 career NHL games, Couture sits with 323 goals and 378 helpers for 701 points. He's been a very strong member of this roster for a long time, and the Sharks are going to require a lot of help now to be anywhere near competitive between now and the end of the season.
