It's another game day for the San Jose Sharks. Following up that win in Detroit with a loss in Columbus, the Sharks will be looking to make things right as they go to UBS Arena to face the New York Islanders. A problematic trip so far for the Sharks means that Team Teal needs to take the points against a struggling opponent. They're not coming into this game playing as well as the Red Wings or Jackets were, so it needs to be two points tonight.
Yaroslav Askarov is under the weather so that Alexandar Georgiev will go again for the Sharks tonight. There's been nothing wrong with the Bulgarian-born Russian netminder on this road trip as he continues to boost his numbers before looking for a trade partner at the deadline who believes he is a better fit for their goaltending than what they currently have. He's been good for the Sharks, and he's improving.
For the Islanders, they're injured and dealing with suspensions. Maxim Tsyplakov is suspended, while Mike Reilly, Semyon Varlamov, Hudson Fashing, Alexander Romanov, and Simon Holmstrom deal with injuries that could keep them out of the lineup tonight. Romanov and Holmstrom are game-time decisions, but the rest are all out tonight. It's a chance for the Sharks to jump on a weakened opponent and grab two points to continue moving up the standings.

Puck Drop
Due to the Rangers playing a home game across the city, this is a slightly staggered start from the traditional 4 p.m. puck drop for an East Coast game, so it'll be a 4:30 puck drop here in the Bay Area. San Jose needs the win tonight as the team looks to bounce back after that defeat in Columbus. A win in Detroit was a good start to this trip, but the team now needs to back it up.
