The Sharks have added another prospect to their cupboards in the 3rd round of today's draft. The Sharks did not have their own 3rd-round pick at this year's draft, as it was part of the Tomas Hertl trade with Vegas and was eventually used on Canadian Center Kieren Dervin by the Vancouver Canucks. They did, however, acquire a 3rd-round pick in the Cody Ceci trade last offseason.

With the 95th pick in the 2025 draft, the Sharks selected center/winger Teddy Mutryn out of Chicago of the USHL. Mutryn scored 30 points in 47 games in the USHL this year and had a goal in 7 games for the US at the U18 Level. He is known for his heavy, straightforward game and is very reminiscent of 2024 3rd round pick Carson Wetsch, who was drafted in a similar range last year by the Sharks.

According to the Elite Prospects Draft Guide “A strong straight-line skater with a powerful shot, Mutryn has the prototypical power forward style. He fires off the rush after driving through traffic, faking before curling the puck around a stick. If there’s some space, he drops the shoulder to get to the net. Once there, he creates traffic and spins off contact for rebounds. Mutryn also brings puck-retrieving and defensive value, often leveraging his desire to make contact to win possession.”

This completes the Ty Emberson trade with the Sharks, receiving Cody Ceci and newly added Teddy Mutryn. The Sharks flipped Ceci at the deadline, along with Granlund, to the Stars for a 2025 first-round pick (Joshua Ravensbergen) and a 2025 fourth-round pick that will be selected later today.

Mutryn is slated to attend Boston College for the 2026-27 season and will presumably continue playing in the USHL next season as he awaits the opportunity to play in the NCAA.

The Sharks have two picks coming in the 4th round. I will update you on both picks as soon as they are made.
