Throughout 66 games played, Nieto recorded 10 goals and 14 assists. He also played in all seven playoff games, helping the Sharks with two goals and three assists. Some say it took Nieto some time to find his stride in the NHL, however by the end of the season he was bettering his stats and began to make an impact on the roster.
The postseason Beard-A-Thon was extra special this year for the rookie, as his mother had been diagnosed with breast cancer during the season. Nieto showed how strong he was, by continuing to play some great hockey, while helping his mother out as much as possible.
Offseason Events
The offseason was quiet for Nieto. He participated in the Sharks Prospect Scrimmage and focused on improving his puck handling skills.
2014-15 Prediction
Nieto will likely see more ice time in the coming season. He proved he can handle the pressure in the big leagues, and will be fighting for the limelight along with Tomas Hertl who will now be back on the ice after his injury. Nieto has the capability to improve his stats from last year and will likely increase his points past the 24 mark.
