Marcus Ragnarsson was drafted in the 5th round of the 1992 NHL Entry Draft and made his debut in the 1995-1996 season. The Swedish defenseman played in 71 games, ended up with a total of 39 points and finished 9th in the Calder Trophy ballet for rookie of the year. That was the only year he wore the number 33 before changing to the number 10 the next season. Ragnarsson ended up playing 6 more years with the Sharks but he never had the same type of year that he did when he was a rookie. The closest he came in relation to points was the 1997-1998 season when he had 25 total points in 79 games. You could say he didn’t turn into what Sharks fans hoped he would when he had a breakout rookie season, but he still did enough to be considered the greatest San Jose Shark to wear the number 33.
Tune in tomorrow when we choose who the best player to wear the number 32 for the San Jose Sharks was.
