Justin Braun, in my opinion, is one of the most overlooked and greatly talented defensemen on the San Jose Sharks roster throughout the 2013-14 season.
2013-14 Season Review
Braun played in all 82 regular season games, recording four goals and 13 assists, for a career high of 17 points. He appeared in all seven playoff games where he helped the Sharks by scoring one goal and one assist.

Offseason Events
There were many rumors this summer on whether the Sharks would give Braun a contract extension to ensure he was on the roster for a few more years. Currently, he is signed through the coming season and will reach unrestricted free agency if there is no agreement between him and the Sharks franchise. It is rumored that the line of communication is still open in regards to the deal, but nothing has been officially stated as of yet. I think it would greatly benefit the club if an agreement can be made, and soon!
2014-15 Prediction
It seems likely that Braun will remain as a top four defenseman. The majority of last season he was partnered with Marc Edouard-Vlasic and I’m wondering if the two will remain line partners for the coming year. However, there isn’t much being said at the moment about where Brent Burns will be placed now that he is transitioning back to defense. With this up in the air, Braun may see a new partner.
I predict that Braun will yet again have a career year in points, surpassing his 17 from last season and showing that he is indeed someone who should be given an extension.
