The San Jose Sharks have finally admitted that there has been a small dip in season ticket sales this offseason due to the terrible performance of the team in the playoffs.

However, chief operating officer John Tortora has explained that it is no bigger than a drop off of sales after any previous first round elimination. Perhaps, but the postseason performance of the Sharks was one of the worst in franchise history and this had to have an impact.
The renewal rate was around 89%. When considering first time season ticket buyers, the team expects to be near the same numbers for the coming season. “We expect, as we have been every year, to be at or near capacity during this upcoming regular season,” Tortora said.
What about all of the controversy over the addition of ice girls and ticket holders wanting to cancel their purchase? Apparently this was taken on a case by case basis, however I cannot seem to find any information about how many actually did. I would be very intrigued to see if those who complained actually went through with the threat.
Fan Fest has been announced to help boost engagement with the community, and many are expected to attend. The event seems to be stepping up compared to previous years, with the option to see the team practice as well as an autograph session afterwards. Fans will also be able to take their picture with the shark head on the ice.
All in all, the start of hockey is just around the corner, and I for one cannot wait!
