Todd Elik was a crucial part of the San Jose Sharks playoff run in the 1993-1994 season. He had 66 points in 75 games that season, while putting up 17 points in 22 games before being traded to the St. Louis Blues. He also added 10 points in 15 games during the Sharks miracle 1994 playoff run when they took down the President’s Trophy winning Detroit Red Wings. Todd Elik’s best years were in San Jose, and even though he had solid years in the rest of his NHL career, he never had the type of production he did when he was in San Jose.

People were surprised when the Sharks traded the forward due to his quality point production, and the fact that the player they got in return, Kevin Miller, had 7 points total in 27 games. It was a trade that baffled Sharks fans, but Todd Elik was no longer a Shark, and the Sharks lost their best number 27 in team history.
