Alex Stalock proved he was capable of stepping up for the San Jose Sharks and start in net with some decent stats to back him up. But does he have what it takes to be a starter in the NHL?

2013-14 Review
Playing in 24 games, Stalock was 12-5-2 with a goals-against average of 1.87 and a .932 save percentage. He relieved Antti Niemi more often than anyone expected to, as well as having his time to shine as a starter.
Offseason Events
Stalock was given a two-year contract extension this past July. He’ll be in San Jose through the 2015-16 campaign.
2014-15 Prediction
Due to his contract extension, Stalock has only two years to prove he has what it takes to be a starter for the Sharks. With his performance last year and the team wanting to go a younger route, Stalock has a definite chance to take on such a role. Whether this means he starts ahead of Niemi, I wouldn’t quite go that for. But I do think there’s a good chance that both Stalock and Niemi can be co-starters in the coming season.
This will be Stalock’s year to prove himself, and I see great things for this player in the near future.
