There are 17 days to go until Sharks hockey!!!! Preseason starts up soon, which will be a delicious appetizer for the real thing, but I sure can’t wait to see hockey back, and I know you can’t either.

So today we look at the best number 17 in San Jose Sharks history, which was difficult because only 4 players have ever worn number for the Sharks. Torrey Mitchell was the second best option. But the number one player to wear the number 17 for the San Jose Sharks is Scott Thornton.
Scott Thornton was with the Sharks from 2001-2006 and he was always known as a checking forward. He hardly ever put up points that would turn heads, but he was a good defensive forward. Scott Thornton is also the cousin of Joe Thornton, which probably had no help in getting Joe to San Jose, but it probably didn’t hurt either. It also didn’t hurt him in my decision to make him the best number 17. If you’re related to Joe Thornton, you’re probably alright in Sharks fans books. But, it was ultimately Scott Thornton’s defensive play and slight offensive additions that made him the best number 17 in San Jose Sharks history.
There’s about two weeks until Sharks hockey. Two weeks, people.
