Sharks Lose Preseason Finale in Overtime

The Sharks preseason is finally over and it ended in dramatic fashion last night. After leading for most of the game thanks to a first period goal by Tomas Hertl, the Anaheim Ducks tied the game up late with their goaltender pulled at 19:07 of the third period. Newly acquired Ryan Kesler scored the goal with under a minute left in regulation and the game went on to overtime where the Sharks were awarded a quick power play thanks to a Ben Lovejoy tripping penalty

The Sharks forced 5 shots on net during their powerplay but couldn’t get anything passed Frederik Andersen. As the penalty expired Matt Nieto took a hooking penalty of his own. The Ducks scored less than a minute later with a goal by Corey Perry. These teams won’t have to wait long for a rematch as they play in Anaheim on October 26th.

The Sharks will begin the regular season on Wednesday October 8th against their rivals and defending Stanley Cup Champions the Los Angeles Kings.
