The San Jose Sharks have once again started the year hot with a 4-0-1 record as they come into New York City for game 4 of the road trip, against the 2-3-0 New York Rangers. The Sharks are coming off a 4-2 win over the New Jersey Devils while the Rangers ended their losing streak with a 2-1 shootout win over the Carolina Hurricanes. Jason Demers will be in for Scott Hannan tonight, and the weird back and forth goalie matchup continues for San Jose as Alex Stalock will start later today, and Henrik Lundqvist will start for the New York Rangers.

Prediction: The Rangers may have gotten a win against the Carolina Hurricanes to snap their three game losing streak, but beating Carolina isn’t a great feat. During the three game losing streak, the Rangers gave up a total of 17 goals. Henrik Lundqvist has not had a great start to the season, and while I believe the King will eventually get back into gear, it’s tough to see him doing it against a team that sure knows how to score. The Sharks have scored 19 goals in 5 games which is a little less than 5 goals per game. The only chance the Rangers have in this game is if they can figure out how to stop giving up goals, and I don’t see that happening tonight. The Sharks have also been outshot in every game they’ve played so far, which is the very opposite of San Jose Sharks hockey. Todd McLellan is probably stressing that in practice and if the Sharks can pepper Lundqvist with shots tonight, the Rangers don’t have a chance at victory. The Sharks win this one by the score of 5-2.
